PEG-10 Dimethicone

Description

PEG-10 Dimethicone, is an silicone emulsifier for water based silicone emulsion. Can be used together to create a serum or cream texture.

The water level in the  in the formula is suggested to be in the range of 70-99% [allows for the oil phase to be 1-30%]  Is intended for all types of silicone; if there is oil in the mix;  mix the oil into the silicone part first,  With higher water content the viscosity will increase.

PEG-10 Dimethicone can be used to emulsify formulations containing electrolyte ingredients in the water phase.

IMPORTANT – MIXING PROCEDURE

1. Incorporate PEG-10 Dimethicone into the silicone/ oil part. ( Silicone Oil such as Dimethicone, Cyclomethicone , Silicone Gel  ect.) Stir or blend into a homogeneous mixture.

2. pre-dissolve any water soluble ingredients into the water phase

3. Add the water phase to the silicone part gradually and ensure that this clears before adding the next aliquot, and then continue to add till all the water has been included.  Do not add the water in a quick pour as it will take extended time to mix and the emulsion will be of a poor quality.

For formulas that are Water in Oil  the addition of Magnesium Sulfate 1%  would assist to improve formula stability and reduces the chance of stratification

Usage rate: 0.5-3%

Product characteristics: clear liquid  clouds at lower temperatures

Storage: can be stored at room temperature But close the lid of the bottle tightly. and protected from sunlight or heat, the product has a shelf life of at least 24-36 months years
